General Description
Hack of : Pokemon Fire Red (U) v1.0
Hack Name : Touhou Puppet Play 1.8 Enhanced
Current Ver : v1.00
Best Emulator: Visual Boy Advance 1.7.2
Make sure you set this option before opening rom in Visual Boy Advance:
– Real Time Clock must be on (Option -> Emulator -> Real Time Clock)
– Save Type Flash 128kb (Option -> Emulator -> Save Type -> Flash 128kb)
If you don’t set save type to 128kb, it will be ended with message “1M-circuit board not installed” and you can’t save game.
If you want to use link feature. VisualBoyAdvance Link 1.7.3 is the best.
What is This Game?
In the Japanese Community of Touhou Puppet Play, there are numerous number of unnoficial patches of either Touhou Puppet Play 1.8x or 1.5x.
Thus, there is one person who combined some of those unnoficial patches. The upgrades compared from the official game:
– Fragment expansion, it allows you to catch Ten Desires crew or boss only Fragments in the official game.
– Fragment cries
– Kanji print (originally it’s footprint in the pokemon games)
– Johto scenario
– Kakera no Kuni (Boneka Village)
– Slide evolution
– Slightly moveset change
– and other patches that I don’t know… maybe…
And this game is simply port of Japanese version… and unfortunatelly I haven’t actually played that Japanese version before… so it would be useless if you ask me about the plot, where do you get [insert item or boneka name here], or why this and why that…
The Kanto plot is much same as Fire Red/Leaf Green story, while Johto story is similar to Gold/Silver game…. I think…

You cannot direct play, you must patch Fire Red (US) rom with ips file instead…

I just started playing the game and I found a CLunasa in the Viridian forest 😀 it tried to evolve at lv. 6 😮 is that a bug?

I really don’t know about this one. Sure, the sprites are awesome, and it looks overall really nice (I don’t fancy the cries though), but using a new type chart and the loads and loads of evolutions makes this seem overly complicated. (TSakuya, HSakuya? A,T,Ad,B Alice?)
Maybe I’m going to give it a try, but for now I’ll stick to Another World…

The NPC in Route 4 Boneka Center gives out a Wriggle. It’s supposed to be a CSatori, at least in the original 1.8x… Is it an error?
Giving away something evolved that early in the game will definitely throw off the difficulty curve…

uh sorry I figured how to do so already, but when I use the patched version, it becomes a white screen even though I already have my real time clock and save type 128 KB on.

Thats a tricky problem i had it too, the short is you have to SPECIFICALLY find a version 1.0 fire red US rom. Its kinda silly but its how i fixed that same problem

I think I found a bug: I picked a CAlice at the beggining of the game, my rival picked a CReisen then, but it displayed that he picked a CLilyWhite.

Also the teachy tv “What are type matchup” is completely broken, because there is no oddish or poliwag or butterfree in the game, and thus the Bonekas use attacks which aren’t super effective and after a while it glitches because the attack should have killed the normal oddish because it would have been super effective, but now its only normally effective and the wild boneka survived and its not scripted that this should happen.

Why is there a LV 29 cYuugi in the Diglett’s Cave? In fact all of them in the cave is a little over leveled. Plus I confirm the LV 5 Wriggle and rival picking a cLilywhite instead of cReisen bugs. They happened on mine too.

The “Slide Evolution” won’t actually work until you obtain the National Dex, as all the A, T, D, etc forms are only in the National Dex.
It’s like having a Golbat that won’t evolve into Crobat until after you get the National Dex.

Heh, I got TM 10 from cNazrin’s pickup, and taught it to Wriggle (From the ripoff artist next to mount moon)… it kicks ass SO DAMN HARD with Poison Jab. Hell, it’s the BEST 500 Pokedollar deal I got, lol.
Oh yeah, I was also going to ask about why the *stat* heart/stone items to side evolve wouldn’t work, but I guess that’s been answered already.
Still, I kinda lucked out at the beginning with cNazrin’s find, and Wriggle from the ripoff artist (Now I respect him for that ‘ripoff’).

I’m not certain if this was intentional, but at the Cycling Road, the bikers grouped in front of the Celadon Entryway all have 6 evolved Boneka at level 1. Is this intentional and just for EV training?

Someones Knows if there is some kind of restriction to capture EX bosses?
For example… The wiki says Flandre appear, with all the SDM crew, at the power plant but i wandered for a long while and found everyone but her :S
Same happened with Nue, The wiki says she appears on the floor B4 on the SeaFoam Islands (The floor where you fight Yuugenma) but i looked for some time and she didnt appeared

Seems like catching rate is very weird in this game…
James says he sees Cnue all the time but i cant find even one..

Well, I must note, Aurion did say he was in Berry Forest. CMokou does seem to be very common in Boneka Mansion, though.
I’ll have to go down to B4F in Seafoam Islands and check to see how many CNues I find, though. (and catch one, of course.)

Well, guess I’ll hop on the bug-reporting train and note an error with the fishing encounters in Route 4. If you surf to Cerulean Cave and fish outside of it, you get the usual encounters.
But if you surf to the left until you’re in Route 4 and fish, things get strange. If you fish with the Old Rod, you fish up Level 5 Wriggles, not unlike the one you get from the salesman in the Route 4 Boneka Center. If you use the Good Rod, you fish up CLunasa. And with the Super Rod, you can fish up CLuna, CTewi, and to even my own surprise, CYorihime.

All you need is the National Dex. Once you get that, go left at the guard who asks for a Bolder Badge on the way to Victory Road. That simple.

I think its always determined by the Female. For those who don’t know, Kedama is the Ditto in the game. So you can still breed that male you have!

A comment above mentioned that the lvl 1 Boneka the Bikers have are for EV Training purposes.
As for Johto, there is an NPC in Vermillion City that mentions Olivine City. Why don’t you ask him?

thanks for the update… But now i ran into the group of six bikers at the top of cycle road and i know that they’re there for EV training but i’d like to know who is for switch stat because they all have 6 boneka’s and all at level 1. It’s pretty easy but takes an incredible amount of time, especially if your boneka’s are above level 30 to go through them all one by one, if any one knows please reply.

Reisen= 3 Special Attack EV
Rumia= 3 Defense EV
Sanae= 3 Special Defense EV
Also a side note: Battling the same biker 14 times will max out the EV for that stat.

Keine, i dont know a good place, im training spaming VS SEEKER against the Mountains guys in Ruin Valley (One with 1 Chiyuri and the other with 3 Rikakos) but one thing i thought to lvl up faster is teach Thief to any boneka (Used it on Mima since scary face sucks anyway), go to the Berry/Fruit forest and spam it against any Tewi you find.
You have 5% to get a Lucky egg, which, at least in this game, Increase the exp in 50%.

okay ive kinda got a good place now thanx for the lucky egg tip…
its inside mt moon the lvl100 trainers gives u a whopping 3-5k exp XD
but its annoying when u lose u get kicked back to viridian and make your way back there wasting a few minutes (6 lvl100 trainers in a row T~T)…
or u can kill the evolved bonekas on the room just outside…

The macho brace is in the spot that giovanni was standing when you fight him as a gym leader, if you talk to him a second time he’ll disappear and then stand where he was and use the item finder

Rainbow Shard i used to evolve certain Boneka into their “Advent” forms.
Youmu, Yuyuko, Eirin, Mystia, Cirno, Reisen, Meiling, Letty, Tewi, Marisa, Alice, Mokou, Yukari, Ran, and Chen are the only ones you can use the Shard on.

Navel Rock and Birth Island can be accessed from the Cerulean Cave. Just make it to the end and defeat/capture Kikuri, and then you will gain access to those places. At least that’s how it was in the original 1.8.

Actually, Birth Island can be accessed after you beat red, at Mt. Silver. You will automatically have the Aurora Ticket in your bag once you beat him, along with flying access to Mt. Silver via the JOHTO region transport. Note: You can get CTojiko here in a small patch of grass, along with Ayakashi, who’s at level 99 (iirc she’s pretty much deoxys in attack form due to her stats).
As for how i beat red, well, i EV trained a team of 6 (with fairly decent IVs and the proper nature for each). This is due to the fact that you have to fight about 10(?) trainers consistently before fighting red, who’s boneka are all at lv100.

speaking of fighting more than once, apparently all the legendary/event boneka in johto (Tensoku, A-VIVIT, shiny starters etc) “reset” somehow, meaning you can capture them multiple times. i honestly don’t know if it’s a bug, so some confirmation would be nice.

after that you can catch Ayakashi in eight (or nine) island (when you got kicked out from MT Silver in your key item inv there’s Aurora Ticket) you can go to the island via Vermilion City boat.
and, congratulations on beat the game, now you can rechallenge every GYM in kanto region with their lv 100 boneka, or collect 386 boneka and go to boneka village

CMiyako requires you to go through the Cave that leads to Azalea. One of the exits in said cave (I can’t recall which, might be the top right one) brings you to the Ruins of Alph in front of a patch of grass. That grass contains her.

Okay, so you have to get all 386 Bonekas to go to Boneka Village/Lotus Island, right. That’s quite an intense task…

you have to get the world idolldex the only 1 who can really evolve with the hearts is Keine and i believe thats only 1 form

Since Ran’s number in the iDollDex corresponds to Farfetch’d, my guess is the Bloomers are the Stick and raise Ran’s critical hit ratio. If I’m right, it only works for Ran, not ARan or HRan, sadly.

VIVIT can’t breed. Not even with a Kedama. I tried. I even checked the game data. VIVIT and A-VIVIT are both in the Can’t Breed egg group.

huh… I traded CAya from both TPP 1.8 enhanced Aichiya Sanae’s version and from Agastya’s emerald… Only the one SENT to Agastya’s evolved when traded… The lack of info at this time is confusing me how to get Tenma in Touhou Puppet Play 1.8 Enhanced… this a glitch, or did I overlook something?

I’m trying to figure out HOW to get Tenma in enhanced… trade seems to work to get Tenma in Agastya’s emerald, but CAya isn’t evolving when traded FROM Agastya Emerald TO Touhou Puppet Play Enhanced. And yes, I have national dex; beat Johto, at least 250+ caught and registered in national dex… still hunting for the rest.
I’ve looked around for some answers, but found none at this time.

I may have found a bug, After you beat the elite 4 and have turned in the Ruby to Celio you’ld normally go to four island into the ice cave to help Lorelei deal with some rocket grunts. However for me that event doesn’t trigger, if i talk to Lorelei in the Ice cave she acts as if the battle has already been fought. The rockets don’t even speak. Anyone else had this issue? You need to do this to get that scientist to move away from the Dotted hole door for the Saphire.

CTenma is located in the Onbashira Tower, located in Violet City.
p.s. its extremely rare, but after a bit you should find it.

Question or two. Does anyone know the base stats of the Ten Desires dolls? I’ve noticed that CFuto and CMamizou seem to have different stats than the ones that appear in THMN Emerald 1.8, seeing how I’ve actually caught them for myself. >w> (Mostly asking for the fully evolved forms.)

I’m not an expert in stat comparisons between the versions, but… I’d say raise two puppets similarly in both games, and compare their stat growths… sorry for lack of a better answer, but it’s a method I’ve used for touhoudex NOT found on wiki sites.
As for South America Land, go to the port in Vermillion on the right, NOT the one used for SS Anne. Just know that once you go there once, I don’t think you can return there at all… so have Surf ready, lots of easy/normal/hard/etc. orbs… it’s also the only time you can get CSeiga, so be sure to catch some while you’re there

CMiyako: Ruins of Alph in Johto… needs surf… Find her in the grass area.
CMiko: Dragon Den in Johto
CFuto: Slowpoke Well
CSeiga: Faraway Land (South America)… NOTE THAT YOU CAN’T RETURN ONCE YOU GO THERE… needs surf.
CMamizou: Tohjo Falls (Need surf)

Amyvitality, CSatori and CKoishi… I just bred their evolved forms to get the Cforms… some of Satori’s evos might be found in the cave between Mahogany and Eukrateak, and I think Koishi’s evos are found in Whirlpool islands… it’s easier to breed for the Cforms instead of finding them in the wild.
Also, the touhou wikis say you need to trade CAya or CHatate to get Tenma… not the case in TPP1.8E… you need to find its Cform in Onbashira tower in Falkner’s city.

UFOs can be bought in underground shops in Goldenrod city, and there’s another move tutor five steps from the UFO shop.
Also iirc cNazrins carry Green UFOs if you don’t have access to Johto yet.

The ROM doesn’t seem to patch correctly, no matter what I do. I followed the instructions on the word document, and i’ve tried patching it normally and patching it after running winIPS through applocale, but the ROM is always a blank white screen. The FireRed ROM works just fine, though.
Anyone know how to fix this? I really want to play this game…

You patched the firered rom with TPPE then you patched the newly made rom with the 1.01 patch right? Unless you accidentally patched the original firered again with the 1.01 patch, there shouldn’t be anything wrong (that I know of).

Did you guys know that this game has a New Game+ feature? It’s located at the Boneka Village, but it essentially lets you get both fossils, as well as all three starters, including the Shiny versions in Jhoto.
Also, more Masterballs and re-capturable Legendaries XD
